“Nicky’s Hideaway Has Varied Music”

Brewster and Norton at work.

Nick Brewster is a musical schizophrenic. He is also the owner of Nicky’s Hideaway, popular watering place near the summit on  [2034 N.] Topanga Canyon Boulevard. Brewster has inaugurated a musical program which includes progressive jazz as well as a western ballad singer.

Headlining the Hideaway’s present musical attractions is Bucky Taylor, who is practically a one man orchestra. Taylor features the guitar, but also handles with proficiency the drums and is a singer of western songs as well as almost anything else the SRO crowds at the plush bistro request.

The other featured headliner is Jerry Norton whose jazz group is well known in the Canyon as well as throughout the West County area. Jerry plays nightly at the Hideaway, either soloing with his nest of saxophones or heading his group of progressive jazz specialists.

Nick Brewster is, of course, available with his own musical abilities. He switches from piano to drums at the drop of a hat and many of the customers wish he would spend more time on the bandstand and less time carrying out his chores as genial host of the Hideaway.

Don't forget... Nicky’s Hideaway featuring the Powerhouse 7 from the Rocketdyne Corporation on Monday Nights... also helped out by George Jarvis, Field Service Manager for R-D, who plays a mean trombone.
