"Hobos Hobnob Hilariously"
The elite of the canyon turned out last Saturday night at Legion Hall in Topanga when the veterans organization held their Hobo Dinner complete with dining, dancing and allied revelry. Post Commander Con Upham hosted the fete which included honoring his son, Don Upham who recently won a West County wide scouting award sponsored by the Boy Scouts of America.
The gala affair was highlighted by the presentation of awards for the best costumes. Pop Carlson carried off the honors for the men, while Mary Ann Sutherland took top billing in the ladies division.
The ladies of the Post auxiliary prepared a delicious meal which provided a satisfactory base for the festivities which continued until the wee hours. This reporter observed that the Fernwood Club in Topanga was the setting for the final moments of celebration for most of the group from the Legion festivities.
